First farmed in 1691, Asara has been family-owned throughout its history. Although initially two separate wine farms, the current owners combined both to create an estate that would be a warm, friendly, full-service destination.
The name Asara comes from the African gods Astar, Asis and Asase, who represent the earth, the sun and the sky. With nature very much at our core, Asara aims to be a sustainable agri-tourism destination that offers visitors the opportunity to reconnect with their surroundings, rediscover honest-to-goodness values and appreciate life’s simplest – but most satisfying – pleasures.
We’d love to welcome you to Asara. Our wine estate and hotel is set on 180 hectares of farmland in the Cape winelands, and offers a naturally beautiful setting, a genuinely warm welcome and a destination that invites you to slow down, take in the view and enjoy the simple pleasures of food, drink and good company.
