Description
The Hollebaksstrandfontein is strongly reminiscent of a mineral Pouilly Fumé and you immediately feel more depth and complexity than the normal Bamboes Bay. Especially on the palate, there is then a full-bodied creaminess and the wine can age for a very long time.
The name of the single vineyard Hollebaksstrandfontein goes back to Dutch settlers and is composed of "hollow tub" and "spring on the beach". Once vital to farmers and fishermen, this deep aquifer is now the best parcel in Bamboes Bay. The wine is aged for 18 months in barriques and clay amphorae, so it is not only a single-vineyard cru, but also a reserve.
